DAD’S INSPIRING POST ON WHY HE IS STILL DOING NICE THINGS FOR HIS EX-WIFE GOES VIRAL

Life can be a complicated mess sometimes. People get together and split up more often than we realize and many times, it’s accompanied by some hard feelings. Nowadays, staying friends with your ex blows people’s minds. Many cannot comprehend acting civil towards a person who has caused them so much pain and suffering.

But, that’s exactly what Billy Flynn Gadbois is trying to change about our culture. This father of two young boys posted on social media explaining why he continues to do nice things for his ex-wife, even though they’re no longer together. And it’s incredibly heartwarming.

Billy put forth quite the romantic gesture for his ex-wife’s birthday. He surprised her with flowers and cards and helped their children cook up a delicious breakfast for her. Of course, someone thought this was incredibly strange and asked Billy why on Earth he was still doing such kind things for someone who no longer held such importance in his life.

His response?

I’m raising two little men. The example I set for how I treat their mom is going to significantly shape how they see and treat women and affect their perception of relationships.

It’s not for his own benefit or even for his wife’s benefit that he still does such kind gestures. It’s for the benefit of their two sons who they both want to grow up to be well-adjusted, respectful, kind men who treat women as equals and with respect.

“We had things to overcome on both sides to be able to set our own crap aside to focus on the kids instead of our own anger and resentments. It’s not easy, but it can be done!” writes Billy.

You might be wondering, does his wife reciprocate his efforts? You’ll be delighted to know that she does. Today reports that Billy’s ex-wife also ensures that their sons know when it’s their father’s birthday and to have something special prepared for him on Father’s day as well.

It takes big people with big hearts to be able to set aside differences for the sake of others. Who else thinks the world could learn a thing or two from this couple?
