We have two groups of corns: hard and soft. Main reason for corns is continuous pressure or friction on the foot’s area. This pressure causes the skin to defend that area by developing a hard surface. A soft corn grows same, but when sweat is stuck where the corn has developed, the hard core turns into soft. There are four reasons of constant pressure and friction that grows in corns include:
- An abnormal gait (an odd way of walking)
- Pressure from ill-fitting footwear (too loose, too tight)
- Bone structure, such as flat feet, hammer toes, and bone spur
- Wearing shoes without socks, causing friction on your feet
Natural Treatments to Prevent Corns from Returning
Choose the appropriate shoes.
- Put on both shoes when buying shoes, and walk in them to make sure that they are comfortable and fit well. Don’t buy shoes that are too tight, thinking they will stretch.
- Buy shoes from soft and pliable material.
- Wear shoes that fit comfortably in the heel part of the shoe.
- Replace your shoes and try not to wear the same pair every day.
- Be sure your foot fits snugly in the widest part of the shoe.

Food and Spice Remedies
- Put one garlic clove on the corn and leave it to air dry. Cover the corn with a bandage and leave it overnight. In the morning take off the bandage and wash your feet with warm water. Repeat this process until the corn vanishes.
- The lemon is rich in citrus acid that softens corns so they eventually fall off. Rub on fresh lemon juice to the corn and leave it to air dry. Repeat this at least three times a day. Another good thing is to mix lemon juice with a teaspoon of yeast, make a thick paste and put it on the corn. Cover the mixture with a bandage, and leave it to stand overnight. You can remove it in the morning
Natural Treatments for Corn Removal
Two remedies often used together are:
Foot soaks and Pumice Stones
- Soak your feet in hot, soapy water for about half an hour to soften the skin. Next, gently massage with pumice stone back and forth through the corn for up to five minutes, and then dry your foot. Pumice stone has a rough surface that removes dead skin without scratching it. Dip a cotton ball into castor oil, place it on the corn and tape it. Leave it to stay overnight. Remove the cotton ball in the morning. Apply more castor oil to the area several times during the day. Repeat this until the corn is removed.
- Another good and natural exfoliating agent is baking soda. In a warm water with two or three tbsp. of baking soda soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes. Rub the corn(s) with a pumice stone to eliminate the dead skin. Continue this daily until the corn flakes off.
- In warm water with ½ cup of Epsom salts soak the affected foot for about 20 minutes. Epsom salts is a combination of magnesium and sulfate. Bats or soaks with Epsom salt exfoliate (remove) dead skin. After that apply moisturizing cream and wrap the foot in a plastic bag for a couple of hours. You can sit and relax. After removing the bag, gently rub the corn with a pumice stone to eliminate the layers of dead skin.
- Put your feet in hot, soapy water with a cup of apple cider vinegar, for about 15 minutes. Then, put on castor oil. If you repeat this procedure for ten days you should successfully peel away your corns
