We know you’ve all been wondering about cutting up onions and putting them in your socks, so we did some investigating.
This is the claim that has been circulating the web these past few weeks.
The bottom of your feet are a direct access point to internal organs in your body through what is known in Chinese medicine as meridians. These meridians serve as pathways to organs within your body.Those that understand Chinese medicine say that the meridian system is closely correlated with the nervous system.
According to these people, if you believe you have nerves and a nervous system, you believe you have meridians too. The bottom of the feet have many different nerve endings, approximately 7,000 that link to different organs within the body.
One of the oddest ways to open up these electrical pathways and to help purify your internal organs without doing anything internal (diet related) is to cut up onions or garlic and put them in your socks while sleeping.
Onions and garlic are claimed to be known air purifiers and when applied to the skin they kill germs and bacteria. As well as this when the phosphoric acid (the substance from onions that makes you cry) enters the bloodstream it helps to purify the blood and kill any bacteria or germs that may be festering waiting to give you the flu.
Step 1: Cut Up Organic Onions Into Slices (White or Red Onions)
Use organic onions to ensure they are free of pesticides and other chemicals you don’t want sitting on your feet and entering your bloodstream. Cut the onions into flat slices so that they can be applied to the bottom of your entire foot (like a platform) so the bottom of your feet are immersed with onion while you sleep. Sounds sexy, right?
Step 2: Put The Onions In Your Sock Under Your Foot (on the bottom) And Sleep!
As you sleep the natural healing powers of the onion will go to work through your skin, hopefully purifying your blood and killing bacteria and germs as well as absorbing toxins. It will also help to purify the air in your room.
During plagues people would chop up onions and leave them in the room to purify the air and to help them not be susceptible to infections, the flu or anything that may harm them.

Is it true?
The various sources seem to be divided on the topic. According ti Dr. Ruth MacDonald, Professor of food science and human nutrition at Iowa State University. “No, onions do not absorb bacteria,” MacDonald says.
“The idea that a vegetable would attract and suck into itself bacteria from the air is not even logical. The onion may turn black because it would eventually rot from both cell breakdown events and bacterial contamination if you left it out, not because it absorbs germs.”
Dr Feder argues to the contrary says that “for chest colds, place an onion poultice on the chest and wrap with a scarf. Onion poultices can also be applied to the feet by way of onion socks.” She also says that onions will “improve circulation.”
So, what’s the conclusion?
Putting on onion in your socks isn’t going to do any harm, but its force as a healing power is up for debate. No harm in trying eh? Well, except for stinky feet.
